Sunbrella
You take pride in your boat. We take pride in the quality, durability and comfort of our fabrics. Ultimate UV protection, fade resistance, mold, and mildew resistance and cleanability is why Sunbrella marine canvas fabrics have been a trusted choice of boat enthusiasts, marine boat manufacturers, and fabricators around the world for almost 60 years.
TOP GUN®
Acrylic-coated 100% woven polyester fabric (600 denier) utilizing a proprietary process to coat both the top and bottom, thus allowing the fabric to be completely reversible. It is characterized by excellent strength, durability, tear and abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, UV and mildew resistance. TOP GUN® is the ultimate coated fabric that provides unrivaled durability, tear and abrasion resistance.
Our process from Stainless Steel Frame bending, patterning, to final install:
A custom-fabricated structural frame designed to support your canvas top. Engineered for stiffness, silence, and longevity.
Design Process: We digitally pattern or physical template the frame geometry on your boat to ensure perfect clearance for things like rod holders, boom swing, and standing height.
Fabrication: Precision bent using our CrownArc and BendArc systems for smooth, kink-free curves and consistent crowning.
Configuration Levels:
Premium Stainless (Standard):
Material: Type 316 Stainless Steel with a polished mirror finish.
Durability: We use .065" Thick-Wall tubing (industry standard is often thinner .049") for maximum rigidity.
Hardware: All fittings feature Double Set Screws and are riveted for a rattle-free, permanent bond. Heavy-duty deck hinges and jaw slides included.
Best For: Powerboats, Sailboats, and High-Speed applications.
Utility / Aluminum:
Material: 7/8" Bright Dip Anodized Aluminum.
Hardware: Standard nylon or diecast fittings.
Best For: Small fishing boats, pontoons, and lightweight shade structures. (Select "Is_Utility" in options)
Tubing Specifications:
1.25" Stainless Steel (.065 wall) - Expedition Grade
1" Stainless Steel (.065 wall) - Standard Marine Grade
7/8" Stainless Steel - Lightweight
7/8" Aluminum - Utility Grade
The Architecture of a Perfect Fit: Our Patterning Process
A premium canvas product is only as good as the pattern it’s built from. We rely on decades of hands-on marine fabrication experience to execute patterns that account for the unique geometry, structural tension, and nuances of your specific boat.
Whether we are engineering a heavy-duty enclosure or a standard day-shade, our meticulous physical patterning process ensures a drum-tight fit that sheds water instantly and extends the lifespan of your top.
Our Three-Step Custom Workflow:
1. On-Boat Physical Templating No two boats are perfectly symmetrical. Instead of relying on generic factory dimensions, our fabricators come directly to your vessel to physically template the exact geometry of your frame. This hands-on process allows us to account for critical details like standing height, boom swings, rod holder clearances, and the specific tension required for your frame type.
2. Pattern Truing and Tension Engineering Once the physical template is pulled from the boat, it is brought to our cutting tables for refinement. Here, our lead fabricators "true" the geometry by smoothing curves, squaring corners, and calculating the precise stretch of your chosen fabric (like Sunbrella or Stamoid). We map out every zipper, seam, and reinforced flap to ensure the structural load is perfectly distributed across the top.
3. Bespoke Hand-Fabrication The trued pattern is then precision-cut and handed off to our sewing floor. Every top is bench-made by skilled operators who match seam tensions, bind raw edges, and install heavy-duty hardware by hand. This level of focused craftsmanship ensures absolute symmetry, watertight seams, and a flawless finish that mass-produced canvas simply cannot replicate.
The "Bench-Made" Advantage: Because our process is hands-on from the first measurement to the final stitch, we catch and correct the tiny anomalies in a boat's layout that automated systems often miss. You aren't just buying fabric; you are investing in the trained eyes and experienced hands of local craftsmen dedicated to building a structurally perfect top.
