Expansive Mediterranean cockpits present some unique challenges and opportunity to blend sun, wind, and rain protection while still giving you options when the weather is fair.

Typical setups include a large well supported Dodger Frame, a wide railing mounted Bimini with coverage targeting the helm, and a large Connector between the two. This gives flexibility to open up the cockpit on those warm sunny days but get the overhead coverage you need when the clouds roll in. Optional features like wind/spray extended sides can make the cold weather sailing more pleasant maintaining visibility. Fully enclosing the cockpit can be challenging on this style boat but for full bug and rain protection at anchor options abound.

Strataglass 40ga Clear Vinyl (Rollable) and Tuffak AR2 Polycarbonate are our materials of choice for the clear windows.

1” Thick Walled Stainless Steel works well for Dodgers. Upgrading to 1.25” Stainless steel for wide Bimini’s tends to provide the sturdiest setup.
